Meet Emily Kurek—self-proclaimed typography and lettering nerd. While she’s not on the clock as an Art Director on our creative team, she’s traveling, running, reading, cooking, and play video games… not at the same time, though. Get to know Emily below!
Q: Why did you choose Brunner?
A: I loved the work I was seeing, and Brunner seems like a forward-thinking and exciting place to be.
Q: Where were you born?
A: Pensacola, Florida
Q: What hobbies did you have in high school?
A: Student government, theater, chess club, debate club, art club, Spanish club… lots of clubs
Q: Tell us a fun fact from High School.
A: I was class president aka I pretty much peaked in high school.
Q: What hobbies did you have in college?
A: My primary hobby was hanging out in the arts building and hyping up my theater friends while scrambling to finish projects.
Q: Tell us a bit about your home life.
A: “I live with my husband Hunter, and we are in the process of getting licensed for foster care. We have a 12-year-old lab, Lilly, and a 1-year-old kitten, Bodoni. They are BFFs.”
Q: Any fun projects going on at home?
A: We just bought a 70s era townhouse in ATL and are working on fixing it up! The vibes are immaculate. The paint job/electrical…. not so much.
Q: What do you do on the weekends?
A: I love to travel, run, read, cook, and play video games. Not all at the same time, though.
Q: What is one thing on your bucket list?
A: Running a marathon!
Q: What’s one thing you’ve crossed off your bucket list?
A: Going to Paris.
Q: What is something you’re passionate about?
A: I am super passionate about foster care. I am also a complete nerd when it comes to typography and lettering.
Q: What is your hidden talent?
A: I love to sing and play guitar/piano. I wish I were better at it!
Q: What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
A: Once I asked a cashier for a cup for water but actually got a Coke when I got to the drink station. I feel guilty to this day.
