Meet Alex Berdis—content circus ringmaster…well, maybe someday. As Senior Art Director, his visual expertise allows him to accomplish big things for our clients. Get to know Alex below!
Q: Why did you choose Brunner?
A: I chose Brunner because I believe coming together is the best way to accomplish big things. I love being an art director because I can use my visual expertise in lots of different ways.
Q; Where were you born?
A: I was born and raised in Erie, PA, but I’ve lived in Pittsburgh for most of my adult life.
Q: Do you have any siblings?
A: I have a twin brother who looks nothing like me. Eric is also an artist but works as a teacher at our former elementary school.
Q: What hobbies did you have in high school?
A: I did all the band stuff. I don’t play my saxophone anymore, but I do listen to all kinds of music and stay current on new releases.
Q: Where did you go to college?
A: Edinboro University (of PA).
Q: Tell us a fun fact from college.
A: I worked at Walmart in the dairy department and did my senior thesis on branding and reintroducing the idea of the old school milk man.
Q: Tell us about your home life.
A: I have been married to my wife, Angie for 5 years and together for 14, we have a very sweet doggo named Pretzel.
Q: Any “fun” projects happening at home?
A: I took advantage of quarantine to do lots of projects. I built a back deck on my house last summer. We had the house painted black. It looks pretty spooky. My neighbors say they don’t mind. This spring I’m planning on building a shed, I’ll have to design it myself because the space I want it for is very unique.
Q: What do you do on the weekends?
A: On the weekends I love riding my bike on the river trails, and I like to take my pupper on hikes with my wife and our friends. In the evenings my wife and I have gotten into tiki drinks at home and are always looking for new glasses for our collection.
Q: What would you do with a million dollars?
A: If I had a million dollars, I would start a content farm. No, a content circus. Just make any kind of video content you could imagine. Random Karaoke with people on the street? Spin classes but the hosts are really funny? Bring back the big budget music video? That kind of thing.
Q: Have you lived anywhere other than Pittsburgh?
A: I lived in Philly from 2016-2017, and in some ways I miss it a lot. We moved back to Pittsburgh because we missed all of our friends and family. One time a friend came to visit and we did a Cheesesteak tour and ate like 6 cheesesteaks. My fave steak was a place by my house called Chubby’s. I miss being able to see awesome bands for $15 and my brother would take me to these cool art galleries every weekend. I had a good time but glad to be back in the burgh, and my mortgage costs less than a 1 bedroom.
Q: Go-to “adult beverage”?
A: IPAs at Breweries/Beer Bars. Tequila and Soda at Dives (Reposado pref.) Boulevardier for classy places (Just a Negroni sub Rye Whiskey).
